The actual Pollyanna character as written is not simplistic or unrealistic. In fact, I’m not even sure she’s a pure optimist. She more closely matches up more with your description of Meliorism. All kinds of bad things happen…
While I agree with the article overall there is a detail that’s inaccurate.
