Thanks Eric Warren You are right, I intentionally left out “real” victims. The article addresses self-pity and how we play the victim. But the mindset, though is not easy, should be similar.

What you say is really profound. To not hold on being a victim is not easy but necessary to heal. It doesn’t mean that nothing happened, it’s not denial of what happened, but overcoming the event. You still need to fight injustice. What’s been happening with #metoo is a perfect example. It required many women to move from victims to promoting real conversation, justice, to avoid perpetrators to attack again. Denouncing perpetrators publicly is an act of leadership and courage, anything but playing the victim.
